I need to remove old caulk from my shower but don’t have a caulking tool.

What alternative methods or household items can I use to effectively and safely remove the caulk?

Any tips on making the process easier and avoiding damage to the shower surface would be greatly appreciated!

A box cutter will work but the tool is well worth the few dollars you will spend in time and aggravation saved.

A steak knife, a razor blade scraping tool, a box cutter, watch you tube videos. I luv caulking.

you don’t need anything fancy but you do need a caulk gun.

Get the good caulk, not the cheap stuff.

You can buy the chaulk removing tool for $5. Or you can use a razor blades.

If you don’t have razor blades you’ll end up spending money regardless. Do you have a box cutter?

You can buy chaulk in a tube that doesn’t require the gun.

You just squeeze the tube by hand.

I’ve used a hairdryer on high heat to help soften old caulking and a box cutter/stanley knife.

Can buy tubes of caulk without having to use a caulking gun.

Cut the nozzle at an angle to apply.

There are several useful videos online.

Makes sure to completely clean off the caulk. Most tub caulk is Silicone and nothing will stick to it after it is cured (not even silicone itself).

Uses silicone when you reseal it.

Go to a building site in your area borrow one and return it. Give them a chocolate or make them a coffee and a cookie.

If you are re-caulking it(bathtub shower combo) fill the bathtub with some water (as much as a person taking a bath) And choose a non-molding caulk

I would stay away from the clear stuff
