I recently had an unfortunate mishap while enjoying a delicious plate of spaghetti, and now I’m faced with a stubborn stain on my favorite white polyester garment.

Despite my efforts to clean it, the spaghetti sauce stain remains, and I’m worried it might be permanently set.

I’ve used everything I have in house on this spaghetti sauce stain (Dawn, shampoo, spray and wash, Lestoil, Incredible Pink and Simple Green). Fabric is a white polyester pullover.

I’m reaching out to the community for advice on the best methods or products to effectively remove this type of stain from polyester fabric.

If you have any tried-and-true techniques, homemade solutions, or recommendations for commercial stain removers, I would greatly appreciate your input!

Additionally, any tips on preventing future stains or caring for polyester fabrics would also be welcome.

      Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help

Oxyclean bath for a few hours or overnight. I once got blood out of a bright white wedding dress this way.

Fels Naptha. It’s a bar of soap. Scrub the stain with the soap.

Bleach. It’s white so it won’t harm the item. I use it all the time. You can dip a Qtip into the bleach and apply it to the wet fabric.

Frankly, what works best for me with pasta sauce is sunshine. I wet the stain with water (or wash it but don’t dry it), and spread the garment on the back of a lawn chair or porch railing, so the stain is directly facing the sun.

I move it throughout the day to follow the sun. It works well.

Unfortunately, if it’s been through the drier, it may be a lost cause. Heat sets most stains.

However, you could always add some embroidery or applique as an embellishment to cover it up.

Oxy clean in the White tub, not the other colors. Soak it in some of that and a bit of the normal detergent for at least a few hours, then wash as normal but don’t dry, if there is any of the stain left hang or lay to dry so the stain is in the sunshine, should work great

Falsnapa soap! I spelled it wrong. But it’s a bar soap in the laundry aisle and it should be next to 20 mule team washing soda in that area.

                    Works great

FelsNaptha. Will take everything out. Bar of soap for about $1.50-$2.00.

Sounds crazy but go at it with a Magic Eraser. Just did this with a shirt of mine and it worked like a charm

Oxiclean. Make a paste. Don’t need to soak entire shirt. Rub paste in gentle and let sit

                            Absolutely no bleach.
                            Start over.
Sprinkle baking soda on the stain. Let sit for 20 minutes.
Shack off the excess baking soda. Combine hydrogen peroxide and Dawn.

Rub on to the stain and let sit for another 20 minutes.

You can use a cloth or a soft tooth brush to dab on the mixture. Rinse with cold water. To get the excess soap out.

When you first get a stain on your clothes, etc.

                            Treat immediately.
This process has work on red wine, grease stains, etc.

I would never use it on silk or wool fabrics.
                            Good luck.

Shout aerosol. Spray rub it in. Next day spray again and rub it in. Let sit for a few minutes.

It has taken out stains in clothes I washed and put in dryer before I noticed them. Worth a try.

Awesome, from Dollar Tree. It’s a yellow liquid, in a spray bottle. It says Totally Awesome, on the bottle. That’ll do it.

How long did it have the stain before you first tried to remove it? If it sits for 24 hrs the stain becomes part of the fibers.

Anything gets a stain, I immediately, continuously rinse in cold water til it is completely or mostly removed.

If needed then I may try some spray and wash. use only cold water…Heat especially once in the dryer will only cause it to set in even more.

Ive has a full glass if red wine spill down the arm of my white sofa…

Immediately laid towels under it, got a bucket of cold water and more towels and just kept saturating it, about 20 min later, not a trace of wine stain!

Try Hydrogen peroxide straight from the bottle let it soak. Then try soap, HP, some water and gently brush with an old soft toothbrush.

This works mostly, but not always. Good luck

Goof off. I had a stain on a pair of khaki shorts I loved and they’d been washed and dried numerous times. I kept wanting to wear them but couldn’t get past the stain.

                                      I tried everything.

I finally tried goof off because if it ruined them then what did it matter.

                                      It worked!

Lay it out on a safe surface. Take Q tip and a bit of bleach. Keep dabbing. Will come out. Rinse the whole thing or wash immediately.

Always worked for me but be careful w straight bleach.

I make a paste with Comet cleanser. That usually works on stains with white items

I have had luck with “Grease Lightening” on hard to tackle stains. It sounds like you have used some good things. I hope you can get it out.
