For all of you who reached FI before retirement, what do you do in terms side gigs, part time work?

I’ve spent my career in corporate america and have a business degree.

Starting to try to get some ideas of options for part time work when I reach FI (looking for something flexible, work from home).

I got a part time job in my same line of work. It is much less stressful…and get paid a fraction of what my previous salary was, but covers my monthly expenses.

It’s hybrid so I work 1 day from home and 2 in the office.

I got the job because I wanted the health insurance since I’m not eligible for Medicare.

I buy land and build houses when I get bored. Then when I finish I take as much time off as I want before I get restless and do it again.

I spend about 10 hours a week working when I am building.

Consult part time in your previous line of work. I’m not sure if you can do it from home, depending on the details and the company you work for, though.

That’d pay the most, since that’s your expertise, and maybe 10 hours per week would make it palatable.

Then there’s the usual side hustles like Uber, dog sitting/walking, house sitting, through to editing people’s writing and videos online and creating media.

Maybe try your hand at making furniture – you never know what you’re good at.

My side hustle to help pay for 2 in college is booking accessible travel. You make commissions on travel bookings.

If owning your own online direct sales business leveraging social media interests you where your income potential is uncapped, I might have something for you to check out.

It’s definitely a work smarter, not harder gig.
