This year has been a challenging year. My bf and I broke up, then I lost my job and when I got a job they fired me right before my 30 day mark.

I had a lot of time to think about how I want my life to be.

First with putting myself first. It may sound shelfish but im tired of taking care of ppl. What frugal ways do you invest in yourself?

I give myself a day off. It is usually Sunday but could be any day. I do nothing that requires me to work….no dishes, no cleaning, no gardening and no taking care of anyone but me.

I spend the day sleeping later than my usual 6am…then I have a leisurely breakfast, followed by reading….

I may or may not eat lunch and then I take a nice nap about 1pm…. after my nap I read some more before making myself a snack to eat while watching tv…. ending with a nice leisurely bath before going to bed.

I do not answer texts, phone calls or anything that can cause me stress….I try to completely unwind and allow myself to detox my body and mind of stress.

I avoid toxic people. No room in my life for energy vampires and time wasters.

I’m not sure how to answer this question but I try to take walks outside for exercise. I think that is a way to invest in myself?

I always invest in learning. I have a side business that I just Love, so I take courses to learn how to do it better.

Taking care of yourself is so important. I’m glad you’re taking this time for you.

              You got this.

I spend time on the things that bring me joy. I’m a crafter and sewist. I buy my hobby supplies guilt free, but reasonably.

Putting yourself first is NOT selfish!
You can learn a new skill.

There’s plenty of free classes if you look hard enough. Maybe find a budgeting class.

Some tax chains offer a free basic tax class at the end of the year and they solicit potential seasonal employees from those classes.

You could learn tax basics and get a seasonal part time job!

How I have taken care of myself:
                    Physically-
                    Epsom salt- soak my feet

Buy a new nail polish and do my nails
Buy some essential oil and a defuser
                    Give my body rest

Buy a good bag of coffee that I wouldn’t normally buy
                    Mentally-
                    Read more books

I pray and keep a prayer journal
                    Keep a gratitude journal

                    Unplug from technology when necessary
Listen to uplifting songs- buy some on iTunes
Go for a walk in a park

Those are just a few things that I can think of off the top of my head.

Good for you! I know it’s scary right now but before long you’ll look back and realize what a blessing it’s been.

I read something that said “I had to make you uncomfortable because you would have never left”

It’s true. I stayed in a toxic job for too long because I was scared.

                        1. Exercise
                        2. Eat healthfully
                        3. Adequate sleep/rest

                        4. Enforce healthy boundaries. As a woman, this was initially difficult for me.

I learned to say: “I’d love to help, but will need to examine my calendar and commitments to assure I won’t let you down”.

Then think about whether or not it would really work for me, given my time/ability – BEFORE committing to anything.

I like to take a day and get my freebies. Along the way I stop at parks I’ve never been to. I like to get a small dessert and sit in my quiet car as the traffic passes by me.

I have a corner of a bedroom and read my People magazine and write in my journals listening to symphonic music and think.

I also like to move slow. This is a treat for me as some days I feel rushed.

Do free meditations and yoga offered on the internet. This sounds corny but I follow lots of animal and baby videos on Instagram, that make me giggle. Good luck!

Always put yourself first because you can’t pour from an empty cup, and don’t feel guilty about it!

I volunteer with animal rescues because it’s my passion. I get my hair done whenever I can.

I surround myself with positive people, those who only want the best for me, are supportive of me, and have no ulterior motives or anything selfish to gain from me.

My people take care of my emotional health. I avoid toxic people.

I have been doing a journal and yoga and also constantly working on keeping a positive mindset about everything.

It’ll be ok and it will get better friend, I promise.
