My family is appalled at the lenghts I’d go to save a $1. What is something you do to save money that your family/friends find extreme?

I, for example, don’t use fabric softener. I just don’t buy it.

People think of it as a necessity and can’t believe I don’t buy nor use it.

I secretly split the hamburger tubes into less than 1lb portions. A skillet mix box called for 1 lb but if it’s just 2 or 3 of us, I don’t think that much meat is necessary in one sitting, especially when I usually pair it with side dishes. Husband hasn’t asked about it so far, not sure if he knows.

no paper towels. no cleaning supplies outside of dish soap, vinegar, and borax or baking soda. no seasonal decor. no shaving cream. no makeup. no bottled water. no dryer sheets. no vacuum bags needed. no nut milk we buy bulk nuts. no disposable razors, single blades instead. no polyester clothes they break down too fast. all better for health and environment too.

White vinegar ,just a capful in the rinse section, keeps clothes fresh and soft ,also keeps your drum clean.

Never used fabric softener because of respiratory issues in my family. We use soap nuts to save hugely on washing laundry. A $57 bag of soap nuts will last me well over a year and they wash our clothes very well!.

I have never used fabric softener or any other addition to my laundry besides regular soap.
