I’m curious to hear your opinions on annuities. What do you consider to be the minimum amount that is worth investing in an annuity? I’m exploring my options for retirement planning and would appreciate any insights or advice you have on this topic.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
TomFinancial advisor here: don’t buy an annuity, income tax rates are higher than capital gains rates.
JeffThat’s a loaded question. I’m in the business. I don’t think there’s a solid rule of thumb here. I can tell you that some carriers have a minimum of $20k for some contracts and others will go much lower. What are you solving for here? Safety from the market? Are you trying to secure guaranteed income? Are you ineligible for life insurance and you want the annuity to provide life insurance type benefits? Is this an alternative to a CD for you?
RobIMO, I can’t see a reason you would pay a company to give you your money!
RonaldIf someone try’s to sell you an annuity,RUN!!
JeffI just surrendered my annuity… costs me an arm and leg in fees to have the policy and they took a big chunk when I surrendered it!
