Hi everyone! I’m curious to know about the small or big wins you’ve had this week when it comes to saving money or being frugal.
Did you find a great deal, save on groceries, or perhaps find a creative way to cut costs without sacrificing quality?
I’m looking for inspiration and ideas from the community on how to be more frugal in everyday life.
Whether it’s a one-time save or a habit you’ve built, I’d love to hear about it!
Mine is using up freezer food with only $24 spent at Walmart to make into meals.
AmyCelebrating debt freedom by going out to dinner with cash earned for dog sitting!
LizI found an excellent little AC unit on sale at Walmart (we live in a travel trailer full-time and haven’t had AC all summer, but humidity has been 90%+ all week, so it’s been truly awful).
It was a little small for what we needed, but it’s Energy Star certified and we can make it work.
It’s made a HUGE difference.
I’m just so pleased that I got it for nearly $100 off AND I got it delivered the same day
JillConsigned some clothes and got a free item that I needed from the buy nothing group instead of purchasing it.
CherylI only had to buy mushrooms for Vegetable Primavera, all week I’ve eaten out of my vegetable gardens and cupboards.
It feels great, love harvest time.
PattyI got 10 pounds of chicken leg quarters for $6.99. Separated and frozen, that netted 14 legs, 14 thighs and with the bit of back meet that was attached, I got almost2 quarts of chicken broth with meat bits for soup! It was such a good buy, I bought a 2nd bag.
So, double what you see and I also got 3/4 of a cup of chicken fat for frying and making biscuits.
That’s less than 25 cents a piece of chicken. Score
ChrisAll our meals were from the pantry, except for a box of Spring greens that was on clearance for $1.39 & they were very fresh.
ZuccheroI was gifted 2 kg of ripe apricots so I made apricot jam + an apricot cake
EmilyI got our biweekly grocery trip down to $200, including diapers and dog food (family of 4, 2 adults/2toddlers).
Usually it’s between $375 and $400.
AprilMine was using old but new in box wood flooring to close in the wall of our add on back porch cleaning out a closet and new wall no cost to me
NanNo money spent this week at any store. Using my freezer and dehydrated foods…
Triple digit temps keep my inside most of the day so I have no desire to go out.
Side note: broke a filling on a tooth….
Dentist had to drill out a 45 year old filling and rebuild the tooth…
new crown on Monday…
best news is that my dental insurance paid 100%…
win/win
CherylUsing up older items in the freezer. Making a huge stock pot of chicken bone stock cooked low and slow for 24 hrs adding water back periodically to replace evaporated water.
Eating pantry food my husband wouldn’t eat because the “best by” date was 2 months ago…
(he’s out of town so I only have to please me right now).
Getting great deals today at store with extra dollars off on top of already good sale prices.
TinaI had a great week!
1) a friend connected me with an acquaintance who offered for us to pick free cultivated.
Blueberries I picked about 4 gallons.
2) I used my Panera free sip club many times
3) I used my free coupon for Bath and body Works and get my son a nice bar of soap to add to his birthday stuff.
The cashier told me if I spent a little more I’d get another reward and helped me with the app.
they sent me the free 16.95 product coupon
4) I’ve been picking squash out of my garden like crazy.
I’m dehydrating and freezing and cooking from scratch as much as possible.
5)I made yogurt again yesterday
bonus: did plasma twice this week for money for our next vacation
DeborahI fixed my glasses when a screw came out of the side arm. A friend was going to throw out a bunch of eyeglass repair kits from a community freebie event so I took them! I opened them up and made a larger kit with all the parts and it finally came into use.
AnnFound canned pasta and peanut butter on sale for church food pantry. We have clients who are homeless and some are housed in hotels by the city so need foods that require no preparation.
RoxanneGetting 2 more new clients, getting closer to launching my baking business with an invite to an area nursery for a pop up.
Saving by not shopping this week, but instead eating what I had in refrigerator.
Taking my self to a much needed day at our wonderful great lake Huron and taking my food to snack on.
Cost with gas 12.00 time spent relaxing and freighter watching PRICELESS
JacquelinAbout to make ratatouille with eggplant from my Aunts garden and pantry items.
Planning out how I’ll use it this week.
I’m thinking with eggs, over rice and as a side with done chicken.
Maybe even over a baked potato.
