I’ve gotten so many good things that were set out by the curb. Curb Side Shopping is a win – win for gifter and receiver.
What’s the best things you’ve picked up from the curb ?
“What’s the best treasure you’ve discovered through curbside shopping?
Whether it’s a unique piece of furniture, a cool vintage item, or something unexpectedly valuable, we’d love to hear about your favorite finds.
Share your stories and tips on what to look for when scouting your neighborhood for curbside gems!”
DonnaA palm tree that was on its last leg. I babied that plant for 10 years and it took over a room in my house
Luann1989: I found (on the street) an Ethan Allen single bed headboard, footboard and frame … (that l guess was in a neighborhood house when it was sold.)
It had really high posts so l told my son (10 at the time) he could paint it but once we saw how beautiful the wood was and not a scratch on it …
we kept it just as it was.
A couple years ago my oldest son brought me a very expensive kitchen faucet.
“My neighbor was putting it on the curb because it’s not the one his wife wanted…
Mom, it was new in the box.. so l grabbed it”
TrixieSold an old computer I found that still worked and sold it on marketplace for $75 after I wiped the hard drive and and replaced a defective USB port.
That’s a good chunk of my rent right there.
AletaI found a new, with purchase sticker still on it, $50 trash can for my kitchen near the dumpster at an apartment near our Junior College.
I have used it for probably three years.
I hope the college student has learned more about being frugal these last few years.
DonnaBe careful. I know someone who picked up bedbugs from a vacuum that way.
JenniferI grabbed a nice antique dining room table to use as my craft table
DawnWe have four office chairs in the house. 3 of them are roadside
MicheleLamp,3 saddle benches, nice TV stand, bakers rack and lots of excess produce this time if year.
Just made tomato soup, zucchini bread and cucumber salad
MichelleThe solid wood dresser I found about 15 years ago. I’m still using it to this day.
MichellePretty much all my daughter’s clothes come from buy nothing groups. And we’ve gotten lots of lego sets, fresh garden veggies, and a vintage sewing machine with table, that I used as a Christmas gift for my mom.
I’ve also gifted lots and lots of great things as well…
ChristopherI found a portable stainless gas grill then a few blocks away on the same drive got an empty propane tank.
SaraA dehumidifier, which we needed, and is still working 5 years later!
AmandaA trampoline. Thankfully it was our next door neighbor who put it out. We just rolled it right over.
CarrieSeveral great finds. The best is a long, 100% wood dresser in art deco style with a mirror.
I’ve re-painted it twice for re-designs of my daughter’s bedroom.
KellieMy favorite recent find was a fireplace set with the poker and shovel and brush.
It looked new but was missing brush head.
I found on eBay for less than five dollars and we use it for the outdoor fireplace since we already had one in the house.
PamelaIve left out many things. Prefer that to giving to Goodwill now. All is gone within 30 minutes.
Wooden boards, kids toys, table and chairs, large trash cans, lamps, etc.
love seeing people excited and happy
MelissaWe don’t have much of this in my area. I have gotten plants and counter stools.
We put things out at the end of our driveway and it is gone in a couple of hours.
KellyA HUGE cat tree. In great condition and would have cost me at least $200 new.
HeatherA metal chair shaped like a butterfly. It tips easily backwards and could be considered dangerous on cement, but it is Fantastic yard art! Everyone complements me on it!!!
JoyceI leave good things on thr curb often. Easier than trying to sell.
PhylissA kitchen table with 2 chairs, 2 desks, a really great comfy and cute office chair, a coffee table with 2 drawers, a wheeled 2 shelf cart type that holds many microwave and coffee maker, and 2 cat cartiers.
Most of my apartment furnishings came from curb shopping!
LisaGot a full-size bed frame – exactly what my daughter wanted, except dark gray instead of black – in like new condition with all parts including manual!
That saved about $200.
I’ve gotten lots of kids plastic toys that I cleaned up and sold (water table $40, big pool $75 among others).
Keeps it out of the landfill, gives me a few $, and the person buying is happy to get it!
TracyA kids toy organizer-sold it for $15. 9 cube storage system. Nice, sturdy 2 drawer file cabinet on wheels.
