In MN trying to find the least expensive way for my elderly parent to maintain a phone. She currently has a “flip phone” cell (that is paid for) with a monthly bill of about $20.
She recently moved into assisted living with financial support of waivers, due to disability, but as a result of many things now being covered there her “personnel needs” income has plummeted for remaining things (such as phone service) and we’re cutting things as much as possible to stretch those dollars.
Thoughts?
PamThe facility doesn’t have a phone in her room? A regular ma bell phone?
CindyTalk to the admin at the place they will know how to get her a free plan.
MelodyWe added my mother in law to our plan. It’s $20 per month on our plan. We pay it for her.
Maybe that is an option for you?
ShannonIf she’s disabled she might qualify for a credit through through the state. Look up TAP.
Regene$20 is as cheap as it gets unless she qualifies for other government services, often EBT comes with a paid phone & service
BarbaraI don’t know if there’s anything cheaper than that unfortunately, but maybe if they have a staff social worker, they might know of some assistance?
MichelleMy mom the same thing I just added her to my phone bill same with my dad but maybe there is another answer
KimberlyGoogle “Obama phone” for her state. It’s free for low income… being on state insurance qualifies her
AmandaIf she has Medicaid, she can get a free phone and cell service
PatNot sure you’re going to get it for less than $20 unless maybe you can add her to your plan but I still don’t see it for less than what she is paying now
