hi all, i’m looking for the most affordable way to watch NFL football. my boyfriend is currently paying almost $100 for fubo to watch the bengals play (our most local nfl team).

he is saving for a car and trying to cut expenses but isn’t willing to give up access to bengals games. any ideas?

Can he go to a sports bar or a friends house to watch the game? He can split the cost with a friend or friends

We spent a year going to watch it at local bars because $20 for drinks then a decent tip was much cheaper for the ones we couldn’t see

I use youtube tv service as cable (about 80/month) they offer 6 accounts for you fee. I am from out of state and set up a family member with an account.

I log in as them in my tv and watch their local stuff.

The cheapest option to watch the majority of the games is to get a digital antenna for your home. If you live close enough to the Cincinnati television market, you can get games shown on FOX, ABC, & CBS.

                      Digital antennas aren’t expensive.

If you’re not close enough to the Cincinatti TV market for an antenna, you’ll need Sling TV Blue plan, for $45 per month.

First month is half price. You’ll get the Fox games and the MNF game on ABC.

The rest of the games are on CBS. You’ll need Paramount + to stream the CBS games. That’s $7.99 a month. So that’s a total of $52.99 for both streaming services.

If you decide to go with Sling, do not get the sports package (Orange Plan). There are no local networks with that package.

I think you can get both packages for $65.

Whatever option you choose, you’ll need Amazon Prime for the two Thursday night games scheduled.

If you know someone who has it, maybe you can pay them a few bucks of their choice to give you your own sign in for Prime for those two games Members can share with up to five people.

PS: You can DVR the games on Sling if you can’t watch them live.

My thoughts here: Are you sharing expenses? If not don’t worry about it. If you are sharing expenses is this his only extravagance?

Does that expense interfere with your ability to pay your bills?

If the answers are no don’t worry about it.

You know where he and his money are and everyone deserves one indulgence.

Smile and bring him some snacks while he watches.

If you are sharing expenses and this expense is interfering with your ability to pay your bills then you are right to not contribute anything to this expense.

Discuss how tight things are and alternatives like sports bars.

Although it seems by the time you pay for food and drinks at sports bars $100 is the cheaper option for the season.

I have to laugh. I am married to a huge bengals fan. We do nfl red zone. Not sure the cost though and it is all the games played.

I think I have only watched a couple of games college and nfl this year but I think I saw them on peacock. They had multiple options of which game to watch.

Maybe I just picked the right day but I would check that subscription service.

We just watch the Bengals games we can get on our anneta or thru our prime membership.

We have come to terms that we will not be able to watch them all without paying more for it.

My husband watches it on Prime and Paramount Plus. He has tried everything you suggested.

                                Nothing else works in Illinois.

Fubo was the biggest waste of money ever. If you get ESPN+ and or Hulu, you should be able to watch the live games.

I love YouTube T.V. but it’s not worth it unless you want to watch other “cable” channels live.

CBS usually shows AFC games. Paramount+ will allow you to watch the live TV game. You would see the Bangles if you’re in Cincinnati.

Again if you’re in Cincinnati you can just spend $50 on an HDTV antenna and get all your local channels.

And that 50 dollars is just a one-time fee no monthly fees after

Everyone has some great ideas. But at the end of the day if this is something he enjoys, just offered to pay for the subscription and tell him that’s his birthday gift.

I get wanting to watch your team and it’s worth the money

Go to a local sports bar or a friends home. Split a subscription with a friend if this is allowed.

                                          I love football too.
