I want to fire my bug service! I feel I could do this better myself but what is the safest pesticide for kids and pets?
Has anyone else done this?I’m planning to handle pest control in my home myself, but I want to make sure it’s safe for both kids and pets. What are the safest types of pesticides available that I can use with confidence?
Are there any natural or organic options that are just as effective as chemical ones, and how can I ensure I’m applying them in the safest way possible?
Any advice on best practices or specific products that have worked well for families in similar situations would be appreciated.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

NancyWe live on 25 acres farmland. Mostly corn but occasionally soybeans. When it’s beans, the lady bugs (Asian beetles) are always awful.
We tried on our own but were unsuccessful. We hire a year- round service now that deals with all the pests of the country in the Midwest.
Well worth it compared to the irritation of the bugs (also wasps) and destruction of the rodents.
Even just outside mice caused thousands of $$ of damage.
We still get lady bugs but they mostly stay outside and always die.
VarvaraI use diatomaceous eath for carpet beetles. But I don’t aim to get rid of them completely at this point, I just try to make things very hard for them XD Basically seeing about 5 -10 beetles per year is fine, not a big deal for me.
With some other insects I’m not as tolerant, though. Kitchen moths – every time I see them it’s a deep clean + some traps as needed (also safe for pets and kids).
That one and only time we had a bed bug scare years ago I didn’t fool around, though! Professionals were called asap.
I’m not even sure we actually had bed bugs, a suspicion was all it took, and I removed my cats and kids to have everything poisoned properly.
BarbaraI have used. Ortho. Home. Defence for over 20 years. Spray house, garage, yard. Etc.
