Two of my kids are suddenly needing prescription glasses. We aren’t currently carrying vision insurance, so all out of pocket. I have the prescriptions in hand.

Where do you recommend to get good value glasses for kids?

As a parent, I’m looking for budget-friendly options to buy prescription glasses for my children, but I don’t have vision insurance.

I want to make sure they get high-quality eyewear that suits their needs without breaking the bank. Are there any reliable online stores or local places that offer affordable kids’ glasses?

Also, are there any discounts, programs, or payment plans that could help lower the cost?

Any recommendations for affordable yet durable brands or specific retailers would be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you!

Zenni on line. I’ve been getting glasses from them for more than 12 years. Cheaper than Walmart or Costco.

Lots to choose from, no issues

Walmart, they offer a year warranty. If they break for any reason they will replace them as long as you have all the pieces (doesn’t cover scratches on lenses)

I personally have used the warranty and it was hassle free.

Firmoo. Been using them for years – I still use the first pair I ordered in 2011. I actually ordered a new pair yesterday.

Costco. Because they are kids. And they’ll loose or break them, depending on age of course, better to have the help you need close by.

Following-my six year old has an optometrist appointment next week and I’m more than likely going to be in this boat!

Costco or Sam’s club and you don’t have to be a member. Do not trust your kids eyes to Zenni.

I went to Boscov’s optical for my glasses. Seemed to have kids frames as well. It was the least expensive for my progressives even compared to Costco or Walmart.

America’s best. They replace the glasses in case they get lost or broken for kids 13 and under.

I like target kids program. Cheaper than using our insurance and if they break, only $25 to be replaced.

Walmart, Sam’s Club, America’s Best. You want to be able to pick a place that you can walk into incase your children need adjustments and such.

I don’t know if online would be good idea for childrens glasses for only that reason.

My husband got lineless bifocals from zenni for less than 75.00. Kids glasses would be a lot less

Check with your local Lion’s Club. Our club pays for exams and 2 pairs of glasses…1 for home and 1 for school.

Zenni optical or Muukal. I use Muukal more though because they can make my daughters prescription in a wider array of frames than Zenni. (She needs thick lenses)

My youngest is 21 so it’s been a minute, but I always used America’s Best.

Two pairs of glasses and the basic eye exam AND for kids 16 and younger, they would upgrade the lenses to the thinner less likely to break kind for free.

I am not sure if they still do that lens upgrade for free, but I’d say it’s worth a call if there is one near you.

Google vision insurance for kids. I had to do that for my son the first year and got him a plan for under $200 for the year and covered visit and glasses.

Its to late for visit but may help with glasses. I believe I had VSP.

Hands down, Wal Mart. We went many years without vision insurance with a family of glasses wearers.

My second suggestion is America’s best.

A lot of places offer new customer deals. All depends on what’s available in your area. A lot of the online classes are reasonably priced also.

Something to consider down the road, vision insurance is inexpensive if you have people in your family needing glasses/contacts. You can purchase a policy without going through an employer.

I sell vision insurance to clients often. There is also no special enrollment period needed to get it and many plans can start as early as the next day.

You can contact a health insurance broker to help with this.

It can save you a lot of money, especially if you have family who all wear glasses!

Walmart. We have insurance that covers everything, but the frames my daughter picked out last year were only $79.

I think lenses were around $40.

She’s grown into adult sizes this year and her frames had a $129 tag on them.
