If you had 2.4 million and wanted to retire tomorrow, where would you put that money to cover your 7k/ month expenses? No debt.
Kids are grown and left the house.
Not included in the 2.4 is a 650k condo we plan to live in 6 months of the year.
We will rent the other 6 months and that’s included in 7k.
MarkLeave it invested and sell what u need for income
DavidIf I may ask, how old are you? And also, do you need 7k per month of income or do you need 7k per month after tax cash to cover expenses?
I suspect the later, based on your post, so yielding 7k from your portfolio won’t cover it after our favorite Uncle takes his cut.
MarcLooks like you need a yield of 3.5% to get buy. SPYD has a dividend greater than that…That’s an option.
AmyBlue chip dividend stocks. Stuff that never cuts the dividend, never fails to pay. Harvest the dividends for income.
Watson7k in expenses, ouch. Maybe focus on expenses. Like what is your fixed/semi-fixed costs?
I’m in Pennsylvania and that 7k is almost triple my expenses.
I’d keep mine in VOO, VTSAX, and or in my dividend portfolio.
I’d peal off 1 years worth for emergency in high interest account.
Try to get it to double by putting my excess in there.
RobI don’t plan on doing anything different, so it’ll stay invested within a Total Stock Market fund or single stocks I’m in right now.
ScottI keep about 18 mos in cash, so I don’t have to sell during a recession.
I refresh that cash with stop orders.
HeatherIn a few passive income investments. My favorite right now is water distribution and agriculture.
Dave30 year treasuries are yielding and 4.3%
So that’s about 100k/yr
Which should meet your requirementsIanI might do a bond ladder for 1-3 years worth of living expenses (300k in your case) so I would have somewhere to pull consistent cash during a recession, and keep the rest invested in stocks.
Jose7k in expenses. Sounds like you have a mortgage. Which means you have debt.
Is the 6 months covering that mortgage for the year. Is there another house that has a mortgage.
Also, your ago factors heavily into the equation, which wasn’t given.
Don’t know how people are offering advice without having that info
